About Using Reference Planes Browser

The reference planes browser lets you select reference planes manually or using formulas.

The reference plane browser lists the reference planes coming from:

  • Plane systems aggregated under the active 3D shape representation.
  • The reference plane system specified in Common Geometry Resources in Data Setup. The same reference plane system must be available under the root product.

Using the reference planes browser, you can select reference planes directly from the Selection List or create formulas for the selection of planes under Formula.

Under Selection List, you can sort the reference planes and grid sets in alphabetical order. It is also possible to filter the required grid sets and subsets.

Under Formula, create formulas for the selection of planes.

Grid set Lets you select one of the grid sets.
Start Lets you select one of the reference planes from the selected grid set. It is mandatory to select the start reference plane.
End Lets you select one of the reference planes from the selected grid set. It is not mandatory to select the end reference plane.
Offset Lets you enter a positive or negative offset value.
Step Lets you enter a positive or negative value if both start and end planes are selected.
  • Positive value: The start plane and every third plane until the end plane will be selected.
  • Negative value The start and end planes, and all planes between them excluding each third plane will be selected.

If you have specified an offset value, the offset will be applied to each selected plane.

Generate Click Generate to create a formula from the selected inputs. The created formula appears in the dialog box and is stored in the repository. You can double-click the formula to edit it or click to remove it.

You can create multiple formulas.

The repository stores the last 10 formulas for reuse.
