Sharing Objects with Other Users

About Permissions

Different levels of permissions are available when you share objects with other people.

Users can do different things depending on the permissions granted to them, like view, use, or modify objects.

This page discusses:

Levels of Permissions

Depending on the object type you select and your own permissions, you can share objects with the following permissions:

Permissions Description
Can View Grants the permissions to search the object and view its properties.
Can Read Grants Can View permissions, and additional permissions to explore, use, and open the object.
Can Edit Grants Can Read permissions, and additional permissions to:
  • Modify the object and its properties
  • Lock and unlock the object (if not already locked by another user)
  • Insert or remove a child object, and edit the properties of its usage in the structure
  • Add, delete, and edit ports and connections
Can Manage Grants Can Edit permissions, and the possibility to grant Can Edit permissions to someone else.

Inherited Permissions

Users can have access to an object thanks to permissions inherited from another object.

Permissions on an object that are inherited from another parent object cannot be modified or removed at this object's level. To modify or remove them, search for the parent object the permissions are inherited from, and open the Sharing tab of the Information panel to make the required changes.
