Extending the Evolution Effectivity of an Instance

You can extend the evolution effectivity of an instance without having to create a new revision of it.

Before you begin: Ensure that all of the following are all true:
  • Variant/option and evolution effectivity are decoupled. They are decoupled by default, but your Administrator may have changed the setting.
  • The instance has existing evolution effectivity.
  • The instance's parent reference has a model defined as its configuration context.
  • There is an existing change action in the In Work lifecycle state.
  • The authoring context is set to the change action.
  • You are working under that change action.
  • The change action's Applicability is set to the extended scope that you want to use for the instance.
  1. In the product structure, select one or more instances whose evolution effectivity you want to extend.
  2. Click Extend Evolution Effectivity.

The location of this action varies based on the app that you are using.

The extended effectivity defined by the change action's Applicability is now applied to the selected instances in the structure.
