Managing Columns to Configure Variant/Option Criteria

You can add one or more of the following columns to the data grid: Name, Type, Description, to help you configure variant/option configuration criteria.

This task shows you how to:

Manage Columns in the Edit Variants and Options Dialog Box

You can add one or more of the following columns, Name, Type, and Description, to the data grid on the Add Variants Options pane of the Edit Variants and Options dialog box that is used to edit variant/option effectivity for a single object in a structure.

  1. Select one configured object in the structure.
  2. Click Edit Variants and Options Effectivity.

    The location of this action varies based on the app you are using.

  3. From the Edit Variants and Options Effectivity dialog box's toolbar, select Add Variants Options.
  4. In the Add Variants Options pane, from the toolbar, select Manage column properties.
  5. Select the corresponding check box to add one or more of these columns to the Add Variants Options pane:

    • Name
    • Type (selected by default)
    • Description (selected by default)

  6. Click Apply.

The selected columns are added to the Add Variants Options pane to help you distinguish between the variant values and options that you can use to define variant/option effectivity for the selected object in the structure.

Manage Columns in the Edit Variants and Options Effectivity Dialog Box

You can add one or more of the following columns, Name, Type, and Description, to the Edit Variants/Options Effectivity dialog box that is used to edit variant/option effectivity for multiple objects in a structure.

  1. Select two or more configured objects in the structure.
  2. Click Edit Variants and Options Effectivity.

    The location of this action varies based on the app you are using.

  3. In the Edit Variants/Options Effectivity dialog box, from the toolbar, select Manage column properties.
  4. Select the corresponding check box to add one or more of these columns to the Edit Variants/Options Effectivity dialog box:

    • Name
    • Type
    • Description (selected by default)

  5. Click Apply.

The selected columns are added to the Edit Variants/Options Effectivity dialog box to help you distinguish between the variant values and options that you can use to define variant/option effectivity for the selected objects in the structure.

Manage Columns in the Select by Configuration Criteria Dialog Box

You can add one or more of the following columns, Name, Type, and Description, to the Select by Configuration Criteria dialog box that is used to select objects in a structure based on configuration criteria.

  1. Select the root object of the structure.
  2. Click Select by Configuration Criteria.

    The location of this action varies based on the app you are using.

  3. In the Select by Configuration Criteria dialog box, from the toolbar, select Manage column properties.
  4. Select the corresponding check box to add one or more of these columns to the Add Variants Options pane:

    • Name
    • Type (selected by default)
    • Description (selected by default)

  5. Click Apply.

The selected columns are added to the Select by Configuration Criteria pane to help you distinguish between the variant values and options that you can use to select objects in the structure that meet the selected criteria.
