Managing Issue Templates

You can create, copy, edit, and delete issue templates. Before you begin: Open the Manage templates dialog box.

Perform the following steps:

  1. From the icon toolbar, click More actions > Manage Templates > .
  2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Manage templates.

The Manage templates window shows previews of used templates at the top, followed by a table that lists your templates. The Settings section drops down as it does on the Create panel.

The preview for the templates includes these details:

  • Classifications
  • Affected items
  • Context
  • Owning organization
Hover over any quantity to view the individual clarifications or objects.

The table includes these columns:

Column Description
Shared If shows, this template is marked for sharing.
Name The name of the template.
Description Descriptive text that defines the usage of the template.
Owner Picture or initials of the person who owns the template, and who is the only person who can modify the template.

You can use these tools to work with issue templates:

Action Description
New Creates a new template from scratch. For more information, see Creating Issue Templates.
New from Issue Creates a new template based on an existing issue. For more information, see Creating Issue Templates.
Duplicate Makes a copy of the selected template to use as the basis for defining a new template. For more information, see Creating Issue Templates.
Edit Edits the selected template.
Delete Deletes the selected template.
Share Allows the selected template to be shared. The app adds to the Shared column. To share the template:
  1. Click to open the link dialog.
  2. Click to copy the URL to your computer clipboard.
  3. Paste the URL where needed, such as in an email message.

Users can click the URL link to open the template and create their own issue. Only the person who created the template can modify it.
