If this preference is not available in a widget, you only have access to that widget in a
single platform. Multiple platforms do not apply to on-premises installations.
When you change the preference, what happens depends on whether you have loaded any
content into the widget:
- If the widget does not contain content, it switches to the selected platform and
displays a brief confirmation message.
- If the widget contains content, an alert message displays allowing you to clear
that content and change the platform, or cancel. If you click
Change, the widget displays the content in the Recent
list of the Home page, but you cannot work with it because it exists on a
platform other than the one in use by the widget. The content is removed from
the list at the next page refresh.
You could add multiple widgets to a dashboard tab, and you can set the platform for each
widget to use. If two widgets use the same platform, you can drag content from one
widget to the other. If the widgets use different platforms, what happens when you drag
content depends on whether you have loaded any content into the target widget:
- If the widget does not contain content, it switches to the selected platform and
displays a brief confirmation message.
- If the widget contains content, an alert message displays allowing you to clear
that content and change the platform, or cancel. If you click
Change, the widget clears the existing content and
displays the dragged content.
