Mouse Controls

Different mouse profiles are available to let you manipulate the objects in 3D widgets using mouse actions. Select the mouse profile that suits your need in Me > Preferences. For more information, see Selecting a Mouse Profile for Dashboard Apps.

Select Selects objects or models in your work area. Left-click Left-click Left-click
Center Viewpoint Adjusts the model to the mouse pointer. Middle-click Middle-click -
Context Menu Displays the context menu. Right-click Right-click Right-click
Selection Trap / Box Selection Selects the objects inside the box selection. On empty area or non-editable object: Shift + hold left-click + drag mouse On empty area or non-editable object: hold left-click + drag the mouse
  • Left to right: select only the items within the box
  • Right to left: includes anything the boxes in the selection
On empty area or non-editable object: hold left-click + drag the mouse
  • Left to right: select only the items within the selection box
  • Right to left: includes anything the selection box crosses in the selection
Edit / Activate Activates objects for editing in your work area. - - Double left-click the object
Copy Copies the selected objects. - - Ctrl + hold left-clock + drag the mouse on an object in the work area or from the tree to the work area.
Note: On a Macintosh, use the Cmd key.
Pan Moves the model across the work area. Hold middle-click + drag the mouse Hold middle-click + drag the mouse
  • Ctrl + hold middle-click + drag the mouse
  • Ctrl + hold left-click + drag the mouse
Note: On a Macintosh, you can use both Cmd and Ctrl keys.
Tumble Rotate Rotates the view about the viewport center or entity.
  • On empty area or non-editable object: hold left-click + drag mouse
  • Hold middle-click + hold left-click + drag mouse
  • Hold middle-click + hold right-click + drag mouse
  • Alt + hold left-click + drag mouse
  • Hold middle-click + hold left-click + drag mouse

Screen Rotate Rotates the view parallel to the screen about the viewport center or entity. - - Alt + hold middle-click + drag the mouse
Note: On a Macintosh, use the Option key.
View Rotate Rotates the view about a fixed axis. The view rotates relative to a face, edge, or vertex. - - Hover over a geometry feature in the model to highlight it, and then press Ctrl + Shift + hold middle-click + drag the mouse.
Notes:
  • On a Macintosh, use the Cmd key.
  • The geometry rotation is available on straight lines, centerlines of circles, holes, cylinders, fillets, and perpendicular rotation at the touch point on flat faces.
Shortcut Ring Opens a circular arrangement of commonly used commands.
Note: You can select an alternate gesture to open the shortcut ring.

Zoom Zooms the model in and out. Mouse wheel scroll:
  • Forward: zoom in to the mouse pointer
  • Backward: zoom out to the mouse pointer

Mouse wheel scroll:
  • Forward: zoom in to the center of the screen
  • Backward: zoom out to the mouse pointer
Or, Shift + middle-click + drag the mouse up and down:
  • drag upward: zoom in to the center of the screen
  • drag downward: zoom out from the center of the screen
