Configuring the Data Grid View

You can configure the Data Grid View to specify each column's visibility, width, order, pinned location, sort order, and the overall page's display density.

Note: Each Data Grid View in an app can be configured independently of the others.

Before you begin: Select Data Grid View to display the items in a table.
  1. Right-click in the header row of a Data Grid View anywhere except in the Title column.
  2. Select Custom Views.
  3. Optional: If you want to create a custom view instead of editing the default view, click Create New View and then enter a name in the View field.
  4. In the Visibility column, do one of the following:

    • Click to hide the column in the data grid.
    • Click to show the column in the data grid.

Note: You cannot hide the Title column.

  5. To specify the width of a visible column, in the Width column, do one of the following:
    OptionActions
Specify width Click in the cell then enter the width of the column.
Note: The value -1 dynamically changes the width of the column to accommodate the widest value displayed in it.
Use field control Double-click in the cell then use the control to select the width of the column.
Copy existing If you have manually changed the width of one or more columns in the grid, click Update from current view to copy the values to the view.
  6. To pin a column to one side of the table, in the Pinned column, select one of the following options:
    OptionDescription
Blank The column remains in its current display order in the grid.
Left The column is displayed at the left of the grid. The first column pinned is always to the far left. All subsequent pinned columns are displayed to the right of the previously left-pinned columns. If the Color column is visible, by default it is always pinned to the left of the grid, before any other column.
Right The column is displayed at the right of the grid. The first column pinned it always to the far right. All subsequent pinned columns are displayed to the left of the previously right-pinned columns.
  7. To change the order of the columns, click in the space to the left of a column name, then us the directional icon to drag the column to the new location.
  8. To sort the items in the grid by the values in one or more columns, do the following:
    1. From the Sort by list, select the first column to sort the data by.
    2. Click to change the sort direction to ascending or descending order, either alphabetically or numerically, depending on the type of information in the column.
    3. Optional: From the Sort by list, select the next column to sort the data by.
    4. Click to change the sort direction to ascending or descending order, either alphabetically or numerically, depending on the type of information in the column.
  9. To specify the item display density, from the Density list, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Compact Each item is displayed in a compact format to optimize the number of rows that can be displayed in the grid.
Comfortable Each item is displayed in a comfortable format to optimize the readability of the rows displayed in the grid.
  10. Optional: To reset the display of the items in the grid to the default values, click Reset to Default.
  11. Click Save and Apply.

The Data Grid View updates to show only the selected columns at their specified widths. These preferences are maintained each time you view this Data Grid View while the current instance of the app is running in the current dashboard. The Data Grid View columns for the page are reset to the default values when you close this instance then open a different instance of the app in the dashboard.
