Applying a Blister Shape

You can apply a blister shape to a 3D model in Pack Manager. You can define suitable packages for the representations that need to be extruded, for example, light bulbs or batteries.

Required access roles: Author, Leader

Before you begin:
  • Ensure that Photo Modeling is selected as the RepSource of the representation. You can select the RepSource from the Properties panel.
  • Ensure that Blister is selected as the Shape of the representation. You can select the Shape of the representation from the Properties panel).
  • Open Pack Manager.
  1. In the 3D Model menu, click Blister .
A blister toolbox panel appears. The toolbox allows you to draw the extrusion manually on the front image of the 3D model.

  2. From the Elevation Type list, select steep or rounded to change the appearance of the blister.

Important: You can choose between the steep and the rounded algorithms only if the Front image or Front and Back images are attached to the representation. In all other cases, the Rounded algorithm is always applied.

    Notes:
    • The steep algorithm builds an extrusion with strong edges.

    • The rounded algorithm creates an extrusion with round edges.

  3. Click the image in the blister toolbox and define the extruded area (at least three control points).
  4. Right-click to validate the extrusion and close the area.
  5. You can perform the following operations:
    • Add a control point: Click an existing segment of the area on the image in the blister toolbox to add a new control point.
    • Remove a control point: Right-click on a control point to remove it. The curve is formed by connecting the point before and the point after the removed point.
    • Move a control point: Drag a point to the new position.
  6. Click either of the following:
    • Update 3D Models: All levels of details are generated taking into account the new defined extrusion area.
    • Clear Blister Curve: The entire curve is deleted.
  7. In the page toolbar, click Save .
