Additive Manufacturing Section

Additive Manufacturing options enable you to investigate the processing conditions for creating parts by depositing layers of heated material. The available actions in this section will vary depending on the selected additive manufacturing workflow.

Material Activation
Creates a material activation feature for eigenstrain additive manufacturing analysis.
See Defining Material Activation.

This command is available in the eigenstrain and pattern-based thermal-mechanical workflows.

Material Input
Controls material input in additive manufacturing.
See Defining Material Input.

This command is available in the thermal-mechanical workflow.

Additive Manufacturing Library
Creates a library of additive manufacturing data for eigenstrain analysis.
See Adding Additive Manufacturing Libraries.

This command is available in the eigenstrain and pattern-based thermal-mechanical workflows.

Moving Heat Flux
Creates moving heat flux in additive manufacturing.
See Defining Moving Heat Fluxes.

This command is available in the thermal-mechanical workflow.

Pattern Heat Flux
Applies a heat flux to the model based on the thermal pattern library.
See Defining Pattern Heat Fluxes.

This command is available in the pattern-based thermal-mechanical workflow.

Direct Energy Deposition
Controls material activation and heating in an additive manufacturing simuluation.
See Defining Direct Energy Deposition.

This command is available in the direct energy deposition workflow.

Build Tie Creation
Sets up tie connections between the part to be built and its supports and build tray and between the supports and the build tray.
See Tying the Components in an Additive Simulation.

This command is available in the thermal-mechanical, eigenstrain, and pattern-based thermal-mechanical workflows.

Starting Temperature Setup
Sets up initial temperatures for the part, supports, and build tray for both the thermal and mechanical analysis.
See Starting Temperature Setup.

This command is available in the thermal-mechanical, pattern-based thermal-mechanical, and direct energy deposition workflows.

Cutting
Creates a cutting operation after an additive manufacturing build.
See Defining Cutting Paths.

This command is available in the thermal-mechanical, eigenstrain, and pattern-based thermal-mechanical workflows.
