Defining Contact Interference

You can use contact interference to resolve problems caused by intersecting and overclosed parts in surface-based contact (not general contact).


Before you begin: You must define surface-based contact pairs before creating the contact interference.

Feature Manager
  1. From the Interactions section of the action bar, click Contact Interference .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select the Surface contact features to which the interference will be applied.

    You can select the feature glyphs in the model, or choose Sim feature from the list to select the surface contact pairs by name.

  4. Select one of the following as the Interference:
    OptionDescription
    Automatic shrink fit Assigns an allowable interference depth automatically to each secondary surface node that is equal to that node's initial penetration.
    Uniform allowable value Specifies a single allowable interference depth to be applied to every secondary surface node. Enter a Value for the interference depth, and select an Amplitude to define the magnitude of the feature during the step.
  5. Click OK.
