Creating Periodic Amplitudes

You can apply periodic amplitudes to define an amplitude curve as a Fourier series. A periodic amplitude has a repeating amplitude curve for a specified time period. You can apply an amplitude curve to a load to allow arbitrary time variations of the load magnitude throughout a step.

Feature Manager
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Periodic Amplitude .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select a Time span for the amplitude.

Note: You cannot change the time span once the amplitude is created. To change it, you must delete the amplitude and create a new one.

  4. Enter a Circular frequency.
  5. Enter the Starting time for the Fourier series.
  6. Enter the Initial amplitude.

The amplitude is fixed at the initial value for any time prior to the starting time.

  7. In the table, enter values for the A and B term coefficients of the Fourier series equation. You can also import data from an external file by right-clicking in the table.
  8. Click OK.
