Configuring the Abaqus Job

You can configure an Abaqus job by selecting the options to appear on the command line.

This task shows you how to:

Configure a SingleAbaqus Job

  1. From the job window, click Set Solver Arguments.

For detailed information about the Abaqus command line options, see the Abaqus Execution guide.

Abaqus Study displays a preview of the command line and the most commonly used command line options for the selected job.
  2. Select the analysis type.
    OptionDescription
analysis Runs a complete Abaqus analysis.
datacheck Performs data checking only, without running the analysis. All files required to continue the analysis are saved.
parametercheck Performs input parameter checks only (when you use parameter definitions in the input file). Does not perform a data check or run the analysis.
syntaxcheck Checks input file syntax only. Does not run an analysis, and uses no license tokens.
continue Runs the analysis beginning at the point at which a previous data check run ended.
recover Restarts the analysis at the last available step and increment in the state file after a catastrophic failure, such as exceeding a CPU limit or a disk quota. Applies only to Abaqus/Explicit analyses.
  3. Enter the name of the job. You cannot enter spaces or special characters. By default, the job name is the same as the main input file name.
Simulation Companion updates the command preview as you type.
  4. Select the main input file. If there is only one input file associated with the job, that file will be selected by default.
  5. Select the format of the output from the analysis.
    OptionDescription
odb Writes the data to an output database file only.
sim Writes the data to a SIM file only.
both Writes the data to both an output database file and to a SIM file.
  6. To access additional Abaqus command line options, click Add/Remove Options.

If you selected Compute on 3DEXPERIENCE Cloud, some command-line options are not available. For example, if you are computing on a cloud server, you cannot configure the number of CPUs or the memory size.
