Opening Simulation Companion

When you open Simulation Companion on your dashboard, you can either create a new simulation study or open an existing study. A simulation study is a simulation process in which your jobs and content are stored.

Note: Before you open Simulation Companion, you must configure your 3DOrchestrate Station to launch the executables, as described in Configuring Applications in ApplicationInfo.xml.

This task shows you how to:

Create a Simulation Study

  1. From the Compass, drag Simulation Companion onto your dashboard.
  2. From the Getting Started page that appears, click Create Study to create a new simulation study and to configure your custom job.

A simulation study is a simulation process that will be created on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform in which your jobs and content will be stored.

  3. Configure your custom job, as described in Configuring a Custom Job.

Open an Existing Simulation Study

  1. From the Compass, drag Simulation Companion onto your dashboard.
  2. From the Getting Started page that appears, click Open an Existing Study .

A 3DSearch window displays all the simulation processes to which you have read access and that are compatible with Simulation Companion (the Simulation Kind attribute is set to adhoc).

  3. From the 3DSearch window, select the simulation process representing the simulation study you want to open and click OK.
Simulation Companion displays the jobs associated with the simulation study.

Tip: You can also do either of the following to open an existing simulation study:
  • Drag a simulation process representing a simulation study into Simulation Companion from another dashboard app, such as 3DSpace or My Simulations.
  • Drag a job from the Simulation Job Monitor app into Simulation Companion.
