About Penetration Checks

Penetration check controls prevent nodes from moving through a specified surface.

As you optimize a design, some features could be changed such that they intrude into (penetrate) other features of the design. Penetration controls prevent the optimization from extending features through other surfaces, even if the design range limits for that feature would allow it. In other words, penetration checks impose a practical limit so that one feature cannot be enlarged or shrunk such that it occupies the same space as another feature.
