Creating a Penetration Check Control

You can create a penetration check control to prevent the boundaries of the optimized shape from moving through a specified surface.

  1. From the Shape Controls section of the action bar, click Penetration Check Control .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select a Limiting shape.

    The limiting shape is a part or feature that prevents the shape optimization from continuing in a particular direction. The optimized shape cannot penetrate the surface of the limiting shape.

  4. From the Blocking direction options, selection one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Both Prevents the optimization from continuing in either direction through the limiting shape.
    Outward Prevents the optimization from continuing outside the limiting shape (in the positive normal direction).
    Inward Prevents the optimization from continuing inside the limiting shape (in the negative normal direction).
  5. Click OK.
