Introductory Concepts

Performance Study is a member of a family of 3DEXPERIENCE process modeling apps that can be deployed at your company. The role assigned to a user specifies both the process modeling apps they can access and the tasks they can perform within an app.

This page discusses:

The Performance Study User

In most cases the following two types of users will use Performance Study:

Analyst
The analyst, also referred to as the simulation expert or the simulation methods developer, has the role of Author. The analyst uses Process Composer to prepare the simulation templates that will be instantiated into simulation processes by the designer with Performance Study. The analyst prepares the data that will be accessed by the simulation process and defines the attributes and parameters that can be modified by the designer.
Designer
The designer has the role of Contributor. The designer uses Performance Study to search through the simulation templates that were made available by the analyst. The designer instantiates the simulation template, modifies the attributes and parameters that were made available, and runs the simulation process.

The Process Modeling Apps

Users within your company can work with a combination of the 3DEXPERIENCE process modeling apps to create, find, edit, manage, and run simulation processes. The 3DEXPERIENCE process modeling apps allow users to do the following:

Process Composer
Process Composer helps the simulation expert integrate their data and tools with your company's best practices and produce a qualified simulation process that can be deployed to other users within the company. Process Composer is available as a native 3DEXPERIENCE and as a browser-based app.
Performance Study
Users within your company can use Performance Study to run a qualified simulation process, typically created by a simulation expert within your company using Process Composer. Users can access libraries of simulation process templates and leverage underlying tools and best practices from a lightweight dashboard that lets them focus on the engineering problem.
Simulation Companion
Simulation Companion helps the simulation analyst experiment with a simulation process while managing their data and working with a set of predefined tools. The simulation analyst can run their tools in any sequence while moving data between the 3DEXPERIENCE database and directories that can be accessed by the tools.
Results Analytics
Results Analytics provides analytical and graphical support to help you select the best design from a set of design alternatives with competing objectives. Results Analytics allows you to unlock your data to collaboratively answer common questions, such as "What if?" or "What is my best option?", while retaining knowledge, decision history, and reference material in a single location.
