Controlling the Display of Maxima and Minima

You can identify the areas on the model where the maximum and minimum values occur for the selected result.

The maximum and minimum values displayed are global in contour plots and symbol plots.

Displaying Contour Plots
  1. While in the Results action, select a point to display the result value at that point, and select from the postprocessing context toolbar that appears.
A context toolbar appears, and the maxima and minima values display if they were not already shown.
  2. From the context toolbar, select an option:
    OptionDescription
Does not display maximum or minimum values.
    Displays only the maximum values.
    Displays only the minimum values.
Displays both maximum and minimum values.
  3. Optional: To adjust these tolerance values, click and select one or both of the following:
    1. Select Show max to display the global maximum values.
    2. Select Show min to display the global minimum values.
  4. Optional: Specify a tolerance value and count limit on the number of values to display for the maximum and minimum.
    1. Specify a Tolerance value, which is a percentage of the overall range of available results values.

If you decrease the tolerance for the maximum or minimum, more global maximum or minimum values display.

    2. Enter a Limit count to value, which is a limit on the number of maximum or minimum values to display.

This value determines the upper limit of instances within the tolerance range that can display.

The app displays only the values that are within the specified tolerance range and count limit.
  5. To move a label associated with maximum or minimum values, click the label and drag it to the preferred location.

  6. Click to close the context toolbar.

The requested maximum and minimum values appear on the model with lines indicating the location of the value on the model. An asterisk (*) next to the value label indicates that the maximum or minimum value is based on only the visible portion of the model.

Note: Multiple maximum or minimum values can display depending on the tolerance values you specify. By default, the maximum values represent the upper 0.1% of the overall range of available results values, while the minimum values represent the lower 0.01% of the overall range of available results values.
