About Volumetric Heat Sources

A volumetric heat source is a distributed heat flux that models heat energy transfer into or out of one or more 3D bodies.

Defining Volumetric Heat Sources

Volumetric heat sources enable you to introduce a heat sink or a heat source in a thermal simulation. For example, the thermal effect of a computer's CPU chip can be simulated using a volumetric heat source feature. You can specify the heat power in terms of total heat or as heat power per unit volume.
