Configuring the Station's Applications in ApplicationInfo.xml

You must configure the predefined applications that need to run on the 3DOrchestrate Station. These applications can include any program, script, batch, or executable file that users need to execute as part of their simulation processes.

There are two ways to configure the station applications:

  • in the ApplicationInfo.xml file (described below)
  • by using the Station Administration dashboard app

Before you begin: These applications must already be installed and available on the station computer.

Opening the Station Administration App
  1. Find the template file in the following directory of the station installation:

    <station_install_dir>/<os>/reffiles/SMAExeConfig/ApplicationInfo.xml

  2. Copy the ApplicationInfo.xml template file into the following directory:

    <station_install_dir>/config/

  3. Edit the file to create one <Application> empty-element tag for each existing application to be run. Define the attributes shown below in each application tag:

    <Application Name="name" Version="number" ExecPath="path" />
    Name

    The name for the application that is given by end-users in the simulation client app GUI when creating the simulation process/workflow. The name may contain spaces but should not contain punctuation other than a period, dash, or underscore.

    Version

    Application version available on this station.

    ExecPath

    Path to the executable file for this application. This may be an absolute path, a relative path, or a simple file name. Simple file names are searched for in the station's PATH environment variable.

    The application name may be followed by arguments. If an argument can contain spaces, surround it in single quotes.

    Example:

    <ApplicationList>
      <Application Name="Notepad" Version="1.0" ExecPath="C:\Windows\System32\notepad.exe" />
      <Application Name="Abaqus" Version="v6141" ExecPath=“abqn614" />
      <Application Name="7zip" Version="v1" ExecPath="C:\Program Files (x86)\7-Zip\7z.exe" />
    </ApplicationList>

  4. If the station program is running, restart it to register the new applications from the file.

Note:

To use the Isight adapter in Process Composer, you must identify the location of your Isight installation by configuring it as an application on a station. Name the application IsightV5, but do not specify any version number (for example, 5.8 or 5.9). Instead, enter "unspecific" for the version.

The executable path should be set to point to the fipercmd.bat file in your Isight installation, for example in Isight 5.x:

C:\isight58\win_b64\code\command\fipercmd.bat
