OverviewThe figure below illustrates the typical workflow. In the first step, a Simulation Methods Developer uses Process Experience Studio to deploy a simplified interface to a complex simulation process. In the second step, a
simulation analyst uses the simplified interface to configure and run the simulation
process. The following topics describe the workflow in more detail. Creating and Configuring the Simulation ProcessA simulation methods developer with expert knowledge of a simulation and your company's best practices uses the Process Composer native app to create a workflow; for example:
The simulation methods developer captures the integration of the data and the tools in a simulation process. The data that is consumed by the simulation and generated by the simulation can include parameters, attributes, and files. Customizing the Interface to the Simulation TemplateThe simulation methods developer drags the simulation process into Process Experience Studio and uses Process Experience Studio to determine which parameters, attributes, and content will be exposed to the simulation analyst and how they will be presented in the customized user interface. The work of the simulation methods developer is now complete. The rich information that was captured by the template can now be duplicated by a larger group of users who may not have the engineering knowledge to create the original simulation process. Instantiating the Customized Simulation TemplateThe simulation analyst opens My Simulations, clicks Create New Simulation , and selects Simulation Process from Experience. When the simulation analyst selects the custom template and clicks OK, the customized simulation template is opened in Performance Study. The simulation analyst modifies the parameters within the boundaries enforced by the customized user interface and clicks Done to instantiate the simulation template. Running the Instantiated Simulation ProcessWhen the simulation analyst clicks Done to instantiate the simulation template, the simulation process that is created is opened in Performance Study. The analyst can use Performance Study to run the simulation process on a selected 3DOrchestrate Station, to monitor the status of the run, and to view the results of the simulation with 3DPlay. In addition, the customized simulation template is available through the Inputs/Outputs settings in Performance Study, which allows the simulation analyst to further modify the parameters before running the simulation process. You can also drag a simulation template to Performance Study from Process Experience Studio. |
