About Initial Mass Fractions in Multispecies Flow Simulations

The initial mass fractions describes the relative composition by mass of the different components at the start of a multispecies flow simulation.

Defining Initial Mass Fraction for a Multispecies Analysis

The mass fractions you specify for the non-background species should be expressed as a decimal value, such as 0.15. The remainder after you specify these non-background species is assigned as the mass fraction of the background species. You can describe the mass fractions of any non-background species by using uniform values or by using mapped spatial data. For uniform concentration, you can apply a scale factor or an amplitude to the values.
