Defining Input Ports

You can define an input port to specify a flow boundary condition (such as a velocity inlet) or a zone that you intend to use as an excitation in a co-simulation in the Multiscale Experiment Creation app.

Each scenario input port that you define becomes an experiment input port on the component representing the simulation in the Multiscale Experiment Creation app. The input port is typically used to receive a scalar variable from another component in the experiment.

  1. From the Contacts section of the action bar, click Input Port .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Choose the flow boundary condition or zone you want to use as the Support in one of two ways:
    • Click the feature glyph on the model.
    • Choose Sim feature from the list next to the Support field, then select the flow boundary condition or zone from the tree.
  4. The following flow boundary conditions and zones (concentrated or distributed tractions) are available in an input port:
    OptionDescription
Boundaries Velocity inlet, wall, volume flow rate, pressure outlet, hydrostatic pressure, mesh motion.
Zones Body force, gravity, volumetric heat source.
  5. Click OK.
