Applying a Volumetric Heat Source

You can apply a volumetric heat source to a fluid/solid region or part to simulate the effects of a distributed heat flux over the region.

Editing Simulation Features
  1. From the Zones section of the action bar, click Volumetric Heat Source .
  2. Optional: Enter a Name for the feature in the dialog box.
  3. Select the support to which you want to apply a heat flux.
  4. Specify the Heat power of the distributed heat flux. You can define the total heat power or specify the heat power per unit volume.

    You can specify the heat power using a single uniform value, with spatially-varying mapped data, or with JavaScript user subroutines that define the value programmatically.

  5. Optional: Specify a scale factor and amplitude for the flux magnitude.
    OptionDescription
    Scale factor A multiplier that is applied to the magnitude of the vector component in the step.
    Amplitude Name of the amplitude curve that defines the magnitude of the vector component during the step.
  6. Click OK.
