Applying JavaScript User Subroutines

You can apply JavaScript user subroutines to define a variety of fields in boundary and zone conditions. You can specify the JavaScript code you want to use by entering its text directly into the interface or by specify a file in the database.

Enter User Subroutine Code Directly into the Interface

You can define user subroutines by writing JavaScript code in plain text format directly in the interface.

  1. Expand the set of options to the left of the zone or boundary field you want to specify, and select User-defined.
  2. Click Subroutine... to open the User Subroutine dialog box.
  3. From the Subroutine location options, select Stored in this feature.
  4. Enter your JavaScript code in the code editor.
  5. Optional: Click Validate Syntax to verify the syntax of your JavaScript code.

    The app checks the code for basic syntax errors, such as missing quotes or parentheses. Error messages are displayed in the information field at the bottom of the dialog box. You can correct any errors directly in the code editor.

  6. Click OK.

Apply User Subroutine Code from 3DSpace Documents

You can apply a user subroutine to a field using a JavaScript document stored in 3DSpace. Specifying a user subroutine file enables you to apply the same code to multiple fields and simulations in the same Collaborative Space more easily.

Before you begin: JavaScript code must be saved with the extension .js and uploaded to 3DSpace.
  1. Expand the set of options to the left of the zone or boundary field you want to specify, and select User-defined.
  2. Click Subroutine... to open the User Subroutine dialog box.
  3. From the Subroutine location options, select Referenced document.
  4. Click , then select the JavaScript document you want to use. The contents of the selected document appear in the non-editable code viewer.
  5. Optional: Click Validate Syntax to verify the syntax of your JavaScript code.

    The app checks the code for basic syntax errors, such as missing quotes or parentheses. Error messages are displayed in the information field at the bottom of the dialog box. You can correct any errors directly in the code editor.

  6. Click OK.
