Disabling/Enabling Feature Glyph Display

You can manage the visibility of feature glyphs to create a customized view of the model.

Complex models may become cluttered with glyphs for multiple features. You can control the visibility of the feature glyphs either from the Visibility Control dialog box or from the context menus for individual features.

Note: Glyph display is a temporary override to manage the graphical display. It does not affect the visibility of features within the Feature Manager or the inclusion of features in a simulation. It also does not affect the visibility of features assigned by the Hide/Show option. This temporary override is indicated by the visibility icon in the first column of the Feature Manager.

This task shows you how to:

Disable/Enable Feature Glyph Display Using the Visibility Control Dialog Box

You can manage the display of multiple classes of features from the Visibility Control dialog box.

  1. Right-click the work area to display the context menu, and select Visibility Control.
The Visibility Control dialog box initially displays the check boxes for Meshes, Model Features, and Scenario Features. As you add scenario features to your model, these features automatically display in a hierarchy beneath Scenario Features.
  2. Clear check boxes for the features or classes of features that you want to remove from the display.
  3. Optional: Use the context menu to control the display of multiple types of features.
    1. Position the pointer on a specific feature category or type in the dialog box, and open the context menu.
    2. Choose a display option from the menu.

      Option Description
Expand all levels Expands all of the children (Loads, Restraints, etc.) shown in the dialog box for the selected entity (Scenario Features, etc.).
Display only this Displays the selected feature category and hides all features of other types. For example, if you have loads selected, you can hide all restraints and interactions with one click.
Display all children Displays all feature types that are a child of the selected feature category. For example, if you have scenario features selected, you can display all features of the scenario, including Restraints, Loads, etc.

Disable/Enable Feature Glyph Display Using Feature Context Menus

You can manage the display of multiple classes of features from the context menu of the individual features. The context menu options are shortcuts to the same options available in the Visibility Control dialog box.

  1. In the tree, Feature Manager, or work area, select a feature and open the context menu.
  2. Select Show or Hide, and specify the features to display or hide.

Terms in < > below are replaced by actual feature types or categories in the context menu. For example, <Feature Type> could be Pressures or Clamps and <Feature Category> could be Loads or Restraints.

    OptionDescription
<Feature Type> Displays or hides the feature type class corresponding to the selected feature.
<Feature Category> Displays or hides the feature category corresponding to the selected feature.
