Importing Simulation Data from an Abaqus/CFD Input File

You can import the mesh, model, and scenario data from an Abaqus/CFD input file (.inp).


Before you begin: This functionality is available only when you have the Fluid Dynamics Engineer (FMK) role.

  1. From the top bar, select Add > Import.
    The Import dialog box appears.
  2. From the Format options, select Abaqus/CFD (*.inp).
  3. Click and navigate to the input file you want to import.
  4. Optional: Generate a report about the import process by doing the following:
    1. Click the Report tab.
    2. Select Save report.
    3. Specify the location where you want to write the report.
    4. Customize the default name of the report.
  5. Specify the units for the data you are importing.

    The selected units are converted to the units specified in your Preferences for the current session. For example, if you import a model created in millimeters and the current session uses meters, the import process converts all lengths to meters (dividing by 1000).

  6. Click Import.
    The Import dialog box closes, and the simulation is imported into the database.
