The following licensing options are available when you run a simulation:
- Credits: One-time
consumable licensing items that are suitable for occasionally running simulations.
- Tokens: Reusable
licensing items that you can check out from a common pool and use for running a
simulation. Tokens are a suitable licensing choice when you have sustained simulation
workloads.
- Embedded
licensing: A separate licensing mechanism available for some apps and roles that
does not require consumable credits or tokens. Each user can run one simulation at a time
using embedded licensing.
An academic licensing option is available to students, educators, and researchers. For more
information, see About Academic Licensing.
You can purchase credits or tokens in packs, based on your simulation needs:
- SimUnit credits and tokens: Unified licensing that provides a common pool of credits and
tokens for simulations across the entire SIMULIA portfolio of products.
- Simulation tokens: A "traditional" licensing model that provides on-premises licensing
primarily for running structural, fluid, or plastic injection simulations on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
- Compute tokens and credits: A "traditional" licensing model that provides licensing on
the cloud primarily for running structural, fluid, or plastic injection simulations on
the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Where applicable, this guide explains the differences between SimUnit licensing capabilities and the other licensing models. For more information, see About SimUnit Licensing and Traditional Licensing Models.
