About Academic Licensing

Academic licensing is a cost-effective way to provide students, educators, and researchers with access to simulation on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

When you run a simulation under academic licensing, it must adhere to the following parameters:

  • You run simulations locally; that is, on your own computer.
  • By default, the mesh in your simulation model must be no larger than the following:
    Structural simulations 250,000 nodes
    Fluid flow simulations 1,000,000 nodes
You can remove these size limitations by purchasing the Simulation Researcher (UNU) role.
  • You can run the simulation using the maximum number of cores specified for each app under the embedded licensing scheme (for more information, see About Embedded Licensing). Academic licensing does not support the SimUnit licensing scheme; therefore, you cannot extend academic licensing with credits and tokens to use additional cores.
