You can configure the following when you run a simulation:
- Location: You can run a simulation locally, on the cloud, or remotely using
3DOrchestrate. You can also monitor its progress interactively or run the simulation
in the background.
- License: You can run a simulation using credits or tokens, or you can use an
embedded system that does not require credits or tokens.
- Speed: You can specify the level of performance (for cloud roles) or the specific number of cores for running a simulation (for on-premises roles). These options control how quickly the simulation runs to completion and how
many credits or tokens it requires.
- Units: You can specify the unit system in which the app
calculates results data. By default, simulations are run using MKS units.
When you run a simulation, the app
first performs model and solver checks to confirm that the simulation is suitable for an
analysis. The app
sends simulation data to the solvers according to the Common
Execution options in the Preferences dialog
box.
Once the simulation is complete, you can switch to Results to review the output that was
generated. If there are problems with the simulation, refer to the Diagnostic Viewer for
explanations. In addition to results output, simulations can create lightweight
“experience content” for use in visualizing results in the 3DPlay
app.
