Frequency Simulation Results

A frequency simulation displays the mode shapes for the requested natural frequencies of your model. Initially, the displacement contour plot displays the mode shape corresponding to the first frame. You can then select other plot options and mode shapes from Plot list and Frame list.

Real structures have a large number of natural frequencies. It is important when designing structures that these natural frequencies are distinct from the imposed loading frequencies.

An oscillating system can be represented by mode shapes. These mode shapes, known as eigenvectors, are the deformed shape of the structure as it vibrates. Click the Compass Play button to animate the mode shape.

The results available depend on your selections in the model for materials, connections, and restraints. You can view plots for the results described below.

Result Plot Description
Deformation Displays the mode shape without any contour plot.
Displacement Contours the distance each point has moved from its original location.
Displacement VectorMeasures the distance each point has moved from its original location.
