Cast Iron Fatigue

The cast iron fatigue material option specifies several parameters that describe cast iron fatigue behavior. These parameters include cyclic compressive strain hardening, the slope of secant modulus versus compressive and tensile stress, and parameters for the Smith-Watson-Topper life curve.

If you define cast iron fatigue properties for a material, you must also define its cyclic stress-strain and strain life material options.

Parameter Description
K' comp Cyclic compressive strain hardening coefficient
n' comp Cyclic compressive strain hardening exponent
m' comp Slope of secant modulus vs compressive stress
m' tens Slope of secant modulus vs tensile stress
m' unloading Slope of unloading modulus vs. peak stress
SWT Life Curve Coefficent Smith-Watson-Topper life curve coefficient
SWT Life Curve Exponent Smith-Watson-Topper life curve exponent
Use temperature-dependent data Specifies material parameters that depend on temperature. A Temperature field appears in the data table. For more information, see Specifying Material Data as a Function of Temperature and Independent Field Variables.
