Simulation Materials

The Simulation Materials guide describes all the simulation-related physical properties you can define for a material. These physical properties include behaviors like elasticity and plasticity; and when you apply them to geometry, they determine the behavior of products in a simulation.

This guide provides reference information about each physical property only; it does not explain how to create a material or how to add simulation-related properties to a material. For more information about using the Material Definition app to create materials and to add simulation-related properties to materials, see the Material Definition Guide.

The top-level categories for topics in this guide correspond to the type of solver you use to run the simulation:

  • Structures: Material behaviors for Abaqus® structural and multiphysics simulations and for durability simulations.
  • Fluid Dynamics: Material behaviors for Navier-Stokes computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations.
  • Injection Molding: Material behaviors for plastic injection simulations.

Each individual topic provides information about the algorithm that governs the physical property in general and explains the meaning of each parameter or property in its definition.
