Locating Intersecting Bodies

You can use the intersecting parts tool to locate any clashing bodies in your model. This tool helps you identify where you might need to define contact or connections to ensure a successful simulation. Any geometric entities that overlap and penetrate one another are listed and can be highlighted.

  1. From the Interactions section of the action bar, click Show Intersecting Bodies .
  2. Specify a Search domain.

    By default, the app searches the whole model for contacting surfaces. You can select candidate geometry supports by clicking individual components in the model.

  3. Click Find Intersections.
    The table lists any intersecting surfaces. You can click a row in the table to highlight the corresponding surfaces in the model.
  4. Close the dialog box.
  5. Define appropriate contact or connection features for these parts using general contact, surface-based contact, or connections.
