About the Empty FEM Method

The empty FEM method creates a finite element model for the parts in an assembly without creating any meshes.

Creating Empty FEMs

An empty FEM is a container for meshes that you must still create. You cannot run a simulation with an empty FEM. Creating an empty finite element model gives you complete control of mesh creation for each part.

After creating the empty FEM, you are switched to the model context (moved from Model Assembly Design to a model creation app where you can use any of the mesh actions to generate a mesh for your model. For more information, see the Structural Model Creation Guide or the Fluid Model Creation Guide.
