Creating Submodel Analysis Cases

You can create a submodel analysis case to run simulations for a local region of a model. The submodel case is based on interpolation of the solution from the full model in a completed structural analysis case.

The completed structural analysis case (the global model analysis case) can be in the current simulation object or in a different simulation object.

Before you begin: You must have a completed simulation of the global model analysis case.

  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Submodel Analysis Case .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Choose the Simulation containing the global model analysis case.

The default simulation is the one in which you are working. To find and choose a different simulation, click . The simulation you select must use the same product structure (model geometry) as the current simulation.

  4. Select the global model Analysis case.
  5. Click OK.

The submodel analysis case is created. Continue working in it to fully define the submodel analysis. For example, you can add new steps, restraints, interactions, loads, and output requests.
