Creating a Keyword Edit

You can create a keyword edit to add or modify Abaqus functionality in an analysis case.

Before you begin: Specify your keyword edits in an XML or Python file.

About the Keyword Editor
  1. From the Setup section of the action bar, click Keyword Editor .
    The Keyword Editor dialog box appears.
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. To use the keyword edits specified in a document already in the database, do the following:
    1. Click .
    2. Enter search parameters in the top bar.
    3. From the search results, select the document containing the XML file or Python file you want to use.
  4. To upload a new XML schema file or Python file and use its specifications for your keyword edit, do the following:
    1. Click .
    2. Click Import a file from the message that appears.
    3. From the File Selection dialog box, navigate to the file you want to use and click Open.
    4. From the Document dialog box, add a title and description for the XML file or Python file, and then click OK.
    5. Click to confirm selection of the document containing the new keyword edit file.
  5. Optional: Click to review the contents of the selected keyword edit file.
  6. Click OK.
