Applying Surface Currents

You can apply a surface current to an element face of a part's finite element model representation.

Before you begin: Create a coupled thermal-electrical step or a coupled thermal-electrical-stress step, as described in Defining Coupled Thermal-Electrical Steps and Defining Coupled Thermal-Electrical-Stress Steps, respectively.

About Surface Currents
  1. From the Loads section of the action bar, click Surface Current .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select a support.
  4. Enter a value as the Surface current.

You can specify the current using a uniform value or mapped spatial data. For more information about mapped spatial data, see About Mapped Data.

  5. Optional: Enter a value as the Scale factor to scale the magnitude of the surface current.
  6. Optional: Select one of the Amplitude options to define the magnitude during the step.
  7. Click OK.
The 3D area displays multiple, green glyphs to indicate the surface current.
