Creating a New Component from an External FMU File

You can drag and drop an FMU file from your Windows desktop into Multiscale Experiment Creation to automatically create a component with the FMU as its abstraction.

Use this technique when you have FMUs that were created outside of the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

This is an efficient alternative to creating a component and then assigning the FMU as its abstraction.

  1. Drag the FMU file from your desktop into the Multiscale Experiment Creation window (in the web browser).
  2. Drop it on the canvas.

The component is added to your experiment canvas. You can drag it anywhere in the experiment diagram. The new component will automatically establish input and output ports matching the underlying abstraction. Multiscale Experiment Creation reads and interprets the FMU description file to define the ports.
