Parametric Design Study

Parametric Design Study provides the capability to define and perform studies that explore alternative designs using parametric optimization methods. By using parameters to control the model and defining objectives and constraints to review the new design, you create an automated review process for alternate designs.

The design improvement study in Parametric Design Study automatically identifies the best designs that satisfy your requirements while trading off across multiple objectives. For example, you can vary some geometric parameters to find which designs minimize the mass without exceeding a maximum stress value.

As the calculations progress for various designs, you can monitor the results in real time. You can select designs that best meet your requirements and explore them further through additional simulations.

Parametric Design Study is a native app that enables you to do the following:

  • Define a study, which automates the generation of many design options.
  • Use loads and other input and output from a reference structural or fluid mechanics analysis case as variables in the study.
  • Define design variables and their ranges, which determine the overall design space.
  • Define response variables to evaluate how well a design performs.
  • Check the design space to assess the robustness of the parametric model before running a study.
  • Complete the study to generate design options.
  • Review and compare all the designs in a study.
  • Generate alternative objects from selected designs so that you can perform more detailed assessments.
