Managing Analytics Cases

Performance Trade-off and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provide tools that allow you to manage your analytics cases. For more information, see the Collaborative Lifecycle User's Guide.

This page discusses:

Create

To create an analytics case, select Create from the action bar.

Open

To open an analytics case, select Open from the action bar.

Save

To save an analytics case, select Save from the action bar.

When you save an analytics case object, the 3DEXPERIENCE platform saves the current state of the case, including your priorities and objectives. You must manually save the analytics case object you are working on; Performance Trade-off does not save it for you.

Revise

To create a revision of an analytics case object, select Save as New Revision from the action bar. Creating a revision is a manual operation; Performance Trade-off never creates a revision for you.

You can change the revision of an analytics case object. Performance Trade-off retains all of your revisions, and users can search for them and retrieve them. Your company's policies determine when you should create a revision of an analytics case object and when you should create a copy of the object.

You can also use Collaborative Lifecycle to revise a case.

Close

To close the current analytics case, select Close from the action bar. Performance Trade-off prompts you to save any changes you have made to the case.

Copy

Use Collaborative Lifecycle to create a copy of an analytics case object.

A copy of a case loses any connections to referenced objects. Therefore, if the object is updated, those changes are not reflected in the copy of the analytics case. In contrast, a revision of a case maintains its connections to referenced objects.

Delete

Use Collaborative Lifecycle to delete an analytics case object from the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

Lifecycle

Use Collaborative Lifecycle to change the lifecycle of an analytics case.

An analytics case object and its contents are promoted through a sequence of states as it moves through its lifecycle. A policy defines the lifecycle of an object and the conditions required to move through each state. The state of an analytics case object determines which people can access the object and the actions they can perform. For example, an analytics case starts its lifecycle in the In Process state and moves into the Released state when it is ready to be used by others, as shown in the figure below:

Sharing

Use Collaborative Lifecycle to change the ownership of an analytics case.

Note: Performance Trade-off derives a user's default access level to an analytics case from the combination of the organization and collaborative space they selected when they logged into the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The access rights are then shared by a role; for example, all Contributors within the organization and collaborative space have access to run an analytics case.

Sharing allows you to do the following for an analytics case object:

  • Add people that can access the object.
  • Add credentials that can access the object. Users with matching credentials (role, collaborative space, and organization) can access the object.
  • Modify the access level.

By default, the owner of an object has access to an analytics case object regardless of its lifecycle state. However, the lifecycle state may prevent the owner from modifying the object; for example, an analytics case in the Complete state cannot be modified. Conversely, in general, no other user has access to the object unless specifically granted access by the owner (or by an Access Manager).

When you use Sharing to provide another user with access to an analytics case, you can choose from the following access levels:

Access Level Privileges
Basic The user can view the analytics case but cannot download any files associated with it.
Read The user can view the analytics case but cannot modify it.
Read Write The user can view the analytics case and modify it.
Add The user has read/write access and can add content to the analytics case, such as a new document or folder.
Remove The user has read/write access and can remove content from the analytics case. Remove applies only to removing an analytics case from its container. If you own the analytics case being removed and no other objects refer to it, 3DEXPERIENCE platform deletes it from the database. However, if another object refers to the analytics case being removed, the reference is maintained and the analytics case is not deleted from the database.
Add Remove The user has read/write access and can both add and remove content from the analytics case.
