Launching Connector for Simpack

You can start Connector for Simpack from the Compass or from the Simpack user interface.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: From Simpack, set the path to the Connector for Simpack installation (from the menu, select Extras > Options and switch to the Power’By tab). Simpack automatically detects all the installed versions of Connector for Simpack and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
Note: If you modify the Connector for Simpack version, close Simpack; the next time you reopen Simpack, the versions update automatically.

Launch Connector for Simpack from the Compass

  1. Log in to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
  2. Optional: Select the data to open in Simpack.
    1. Perform a search on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
    2. Select a product structure (model geometry) that you saved previously.
  3. From the Compass, select Connector for Simpack .
  4. Select the installed Simpack version to run.

    Note: We recommend that you use the latest version.

Simpack starts on your local computer and connects to the 3DEXPERIENCE platform. If you selected a product structure in the 3DEXPERIENCE platform, Simpack Pre loads the model. The connection remains in place as long as you continue to use the same computer to access the 3DEXPERIENCE platform from Simpack.

Note:
  • If you use 3DSearch to find and preselect a Simpack-related object (for example, a simulation object with Simpack Post project) instead of a product structure, the data of the object is checked out and opened in the launched Simpack Post session.
  • If you do not preselect an object, the Simpack Pre user interface is launched without opening any file. In this case you must search for the model as explained in Launch Connector for Simpack from Simpack.

Launch Connector for Simpack from Simpack

  1. From Simpack Pre, select File > Open from 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
    The Open from 3DEXPERIENCE dialog appears.
  2. Search for your 3DEXPERIENCE platform product structure (for example, enter the name of your model, your search options, and click Search).
    The Connector for Simpack is installed and initialized on your computer, and the connection between Simpack and the 3DEXPERIENCE platform is established.
  3. Enter your Dassault Systèmes 3DPassport credentials, and then your Organization, Collaborative Space, and Role.
    The search results appear in the results view area on the right-hand side of the dialog box.
  4. Select an item (for example, your product structure), and click Open.
  5. Enter the location for storing the converted Simpack model.
  6. From Simpack Post, select File > Save to 3DEXPERIENCE platform to save your Simpack results to a simulation object on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.

    Content that you save is owned by the selected collaborative space. By default, all members of the collaborative space have access to your data.
