About the Main Step in a Simulation Activity

The main step performs the primary task of the simulation activity.

An adapter is referred to as a step when it is added to a simulation activity. A simulation activity usually has one step that can be considered the main step. The main step performs the primary task of the activity, while other steps support the primary task. Activities cannot have multiple main steps, although activities are not required to have a main step. You can use the context menu of the adapter to select it as the main step.

For example, consider an activity that uses the Download adapter to download a script to the working directory followed an OS Command adapter to run the script. In this example you would select the OS Command adapter to be the main step. The icon for the main step is used as the icon for the activity by default, and in this example the icon would indicate the activity is used to run the OS Command adapter.
