About the Simulation Kind Attribute

Simulation kind identifies the type of process for licensing purposes and for use with other apps, such as Abaqus Study or Simulation Companion. You can search by simulation kind using 6WTags.

This page discusses:

Adhoc

A process must have an adhoc simulation kind to be used in Abaqus Study or Simulation Companion. You can create an adhoc template from a simulation automation process that does not use design optimization adapters (DOE, Monte Carlo, or Optimization).

Automation

A simulation automation process without design optimization adapters has a simulation kind of Automation, and is created using Automation Process Composer.

Design Optimization

A design optimization process containing design optimization adapters has a simulation kind of Design Optimization, and is created using Optimization Process Composer.

Migrating Data (Administrator Only)

Your Administrator must migrate the Simulation Kind existing simulation processes and simulation templates for the SPF and MDO roles. The files in the following steps are available in the installed directory. Your Administrator should perform the following commands:

  1. Start MQL.
  2. Enter MQL command set context user creator;
  3. Enter MQL command compile program smaFindObjectsKind*;
  4. Enter MQL command compile program smaMigrateObjectsKind*;
  5. Create a new directory on the server machine, for example: /home/data/RTV/R422relrkpdevpril919/directory, where directory is the name of the new directory.
  6. Enter MQL command execute program smaFindObjectsKind /home/data/RTV/R422relrkpdevpril919/directory 0;
  7. Enter MQL command execute program smaMigrateObjectsKind /home/data/RTV/R422relrkpdevpril919/directory 1 n;
