Monitoring Parameter Values

You can monitor the history of the parameter values in a simulation activity while a job is running; for example, to determine if the job is proceeding as expected. Similarly, you can review the history of the parameter values in a simulation activity after the job has completed; for example, to debug the data flow through a simulation process.

  1. From the tree, right-click the simulation job and select View Parameter History.

Note: When a simulation job is running or completed, you can also select from the job monitoring panel.

Automation Process Composer displays a table showing the history of the value of the parameters associated from the first simulation activity that runs. Automation Process Composer adds a new row to the table each time the simulation activity runs.
  2. From the toolbar on the Parameter History page, you can customize the display by selecting the following:
    OptionDescription

Display parameter values (tabular and/or graphical) for only the designs that show an improvement. This option is available only for an Optimization Process Composer simulation activity that uses the Optimization adapter.

A design is considered an improvement if it is better than the previous best (feasible or infeasible) design.

Filter the displayed parameters. You can do the following:
    • Select a parameter from the table that appears.
    • Choose the Mode of the parameters to select. For example, you can choose to select only the parameters that were defined as Inputs to and/or Outputs from the simulation activity. You can also select all of the parameters or clear all your parameter selections.
Export the parameters displayed in the table to a comma-separated values (CSV) file. Filtered parameters are not exported.
    Refresh the display.
  3. Optional: From the Parameter History page, select a different simulation activity from which to monitor the parameter values.
Performance Study updates the table to show the progression of parameter values in the selected simulation activity.
  4. If the simulation job has completed, you can right-click a row of the parameter history table, and select Set Process Parameter Values.
Automation Process Composer changes the values of the parameters in the selected simulation activity to match the values from the selected row. (Automation Process Composer changes the values of all the parameters in the simulation activity, regardless of any display filters you applied to the table.)
