Applying Fixed Displacement Restraints

You can apply a fixed displacement restraint, a generalized boundary condition, to restrict specific degrees of freedom for portions of your model.

Support Selection
  1. From the RestraintsScenarios section of the action bar, click Fixed Displacement .
  2. Optional: Enter a descriptive Name.
  3. Select the geometry supports in the model.

    You can apply a fixed displacement to one or more faces.

  4. Select the restricted degrees of freedom.

    The degrees of freedom are oriented in terms of the local feature triad for the fixed displacement.

  5. To change the direction of the fixed displacement, right-click its glyph and select one of the positioning tools.
  6. Click OK.
