Displaying Multiple Plot Views Simultaneously

You can configure multiple view layouts with multi-view customization tools and view them simultaneously.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: The Results action must be active, and multiple contour or symbol plots must be available.

Select the Multiple View Layout

You can select a layout of one, two, or four views. Each view is a division of the work area called a sector.

From the Results section of the action bar, click the view layout:

Tip: You can also access these Layout options from the Multi-View Settings dialog box that appears when you select Multi-View Settings .

The view of your work area changes to accommodate the new arrangement of sectors.

Apply a Common Orientation and Magnification Across Multiple Plot Views

You can apply the same orientation (pan, rotate) and magnification (zoom) to all sectors.

  1. Click any sector.
  2. From the context toolbar, click Apply orientation and zoom to all views .

The active view is propagated to the remaining sectors.

Display a Plot in a Specific Sector

You can display a plot in any sector.

  1. Right-click the model you want to move to a different sector.

    You can also right-click the plot name in the tree or in the Feature Manager.

  2. From the context menu, select Show in.
  3. Pick the sector in which you want to display the active plot.

The plot now displays in the new sector of choice.

Activate or Deactivate the Plot Displayed in a Sector

You can activate the plot displayed in any sector. Activation means that you are applying the results plot to the model. A deactivated plot shows as the undeformed model.

  1. Right-click the model you want to activate.

    Tip: You can also right-click the plot name in the tree or in the Feature Manager.

  2. From the context menu, select Activate.
  3. Pick the sector in which you want to display the active plot.

The plot now displays the simulation results in the new sector of choice. To return the view to the undeformed plot, select Deactivate.

Change the Analysis Case Displayed in a Sector

If you have multiple analysis cases displayed, you can change the analysis case displayed in any sector.

  1. Click any sector.
  2. From the Plots dialog box, select the Case.

The selected analysis case replaces the analysis case previously shown in that sector.
