Exporting Simulation Results in Abaqus Output Database Format

You can export the results of a simulation that was run on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform as an Abaqus output database (.odb) file. The output database file can be interpreted and modified by other Abaqus interfaces and analysts familiar with these interfaces.

Export to .odb format is supported for simulations performed in the Mechanical Scenario Creation, or Structural Scenario Creation apps. You cannot export to .odb format for other types of simulation results, like those from computational fluid dynamics, plastic injection analysis, or fatigue analysis.

Before you begin:

Customize the execution preferences to enable the generation of results data in .odb format:

  1. From the top bar, select Me > Preferences, and then click the All Preferences tab.
  2. In the left-hand pane, expand Simulation, and then Physics Simulation.
  3. Select Common Execution.
  4. Select Generate Abaqus ODB results file during execution for later export.

Opening an Existing Simulation
  1. Open the completed simulation (with results) in an app.
  2. From the top bar, select Share > Export > Export Simulation.
The Export Simulation dialog box appears.
  3. Click .
The Save As dialog box appears.
  4. Browse to the location where you want to save the output database file.

Note: The folder name cannot contain Unicode characters, such as accents and other diacritical marks.

  5. Enter a name for the output database file in the File name field, or select an existing file to overwrite that file.
  6. Change Save as type to save the file as an Abaqus output database file.
  7. Click Save to return to the Export Simulation dialog box.
  8. Click Export.

The Abaqus output database file is saved to the specified location.
