The following techniques are available for monitoring the progress of a simulation:
- Monitoring a simulation from the authoring app
-
When you run a simulation in interactive mode from a simulation app,
status information is displayed on your workstation as long as your
session remains open.
If you run a simulation in background mode
and close your session, you can restore communication and resume
monitoring. Open the simulation in the app in which it was created, and
request that status information be displayed on your workstation. (Use
the Notification
command from the context menu.) Alternatively, you can resume monitoring from a Navigation or
Search window, as described below.
- Monitoring a simulation from a Navigation or Search window
-
When you run a simulation in background mode from a Navigation or Search
window, status information is displayed on your workstation as long as
your session remains open.
If you run a simulation in background mode and close your session, you
can do either of the following:
-
Open the simulation in a simulation app and request that
status information is displayed on your workstation.
-
Select the simulation from the Navigation or Search window,
click Notification
, and select the Notify me when the simulation
is complete check box from the window that
appears. If the simulation is running locally, you can
request status information only if you are on the same
workstation that is running the simulation.
In addition, the Notification
command provides more detailed status messages than the
other techniques; for example, it displays messages
indicating licensing or database issues. The
Notification
command is available from the right-click in a Navigation
or Search window and from the action bar in a Navigation window.
