Creating Test Executions

You can create a new test execution to plan a virtual or physical test and to capture whether the tests passed or failed.


Before you begin: You must have created a test specification and test case to contain the test execution.

  1. From the Review pane, select a test case node and click Create Test Execution.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the Title.
  3. Optional: Enter a Description to uniquely identify the test execution.
  4. Optional: Select a Target Item.

    You can select one or more engineering items specific to the test case.

  5. Optional: Select an Assignee to perform the test execution.

    You can assign multiple users to perform the test execution.

  6. Optional: Select a Test Script to run during the test execution.

    Validation and Verification Strategy prompts you when a test script is not in the released state. However, you can still run the tests and create results.

  7. Click Create.

The new test execution is displayed in the Review pane. The test execution is in the Draft state, by default.
